I spend a lot of time going out into the country painting and drawing directly from nature. The immediate challenge is to achieve a composition and capture the light, on site, in real time. 

These studies then form the basis for more formal paintings completed in the studio.

The field work has an immediacy and a spontaneous freshness all of its own. It is this work that I exhibit here.,

 

 

Kimm studied painting at the Royal academy schools and has been painting, exhibiting and teaching ever since. He has written 2 books on painting and also designs and builds decorative installations for playgrounds.
